Declan O'Rourke kick-starts a great line-up of entertainment at The Maritime Hotel, Bantry.
The 4*Maritime Hotel, Bantry is gearing up for an exciting line-up of entertainment over the next few months, starting with an evening with platinum record singer and songwriter Declan O'Rourke on April 2nd.

O'Rourke, originally from Dublin, is a well known figure in the music industry in Ireland and abroad, and can boast completing tours with A-list celebrities Paulo Nutini, Paul Weller, Paul Brady, The Cardigans and also making an appearance with Snow Patrol, as lead guitarist, during their performance during Oxegen 2007. Declan describes his music as 'kind of rootsey – folk – and in broader sense, poppy, jazzy. I don't think I fit into any particular box.” O'Rourke told us.  The hotel is heavily involved with the well-established West Cork Chamber Music Festival (Friday 24th June-Saturday 02nd July), West Cork Literary Festival (Sunday 03rd July –Friday 08th July) and Masters of Tradition (Tuesday 09th August-Sunday 14th August) when the town is buzzing with lovers of good music and literary genius from all over Ireland.

Michelle Moloney, General Manager of The Maritime Hotel said of O'Rourke:  "A gifted and insightful singer and songwriter is the greatest boon any event organiser can hope to encounter. Unfortunately they are exceedingly hard to find, but one is most certainly Declan O'Rourke.  What he has is that rare magic touch that can make a good song brilliant.  This is the kind of music that West Cork people love to hear, and there's a great tradition of providing top acts here in Bantry.”

The 4*Maritime Hotel's upcoming acts include Neil Delamere; star of RTE's The Panel, who comes to Bantry with his usual mix of quick-fire banter and hilarious storytelling in his new show 'Implement of Divilment', Cork popular singer and songwriter John Spillane.   There's a rare opportunity to see Hot House Flowers and the hotel has laid on special 'Show and Stayover' overnight package for one of their 110 spacious bedrooms and suites for those who wish to chill out and really enjoy the whole experience. The Maritime Hotel's funky bar is a gluepot for local people, with a full carvery lunch daily and  Maritime's Ocean Restaurant, with its huge picture windows overlooking Bantry Bay is another reason to visit Bantry.
